Business services

Raisio is the domicile of around 1,500 businesses. The city’s job self-sufficiency rate is 93.5%. Raisio is a regionally significant trading place for the whole Southwest Finland. The Mylly area, in particular, is a commercial hub with many different operators.

Logistically, Raisio is in an excellent location, as there is an airport, two ports and a railway station within a ten-kilometre radius – not to mention the excellent road connections to all over Finland.

Five reasons to settle in Raisio

  2. Large potential customer base
  3. Availability of competent, trained personnel
  4. The City’s quick and flexible decision-making ability and willingness to cooperate

V8 road’s business area

More than 100 hectares of office and production facilities

A 110-hectare employment area with plenty of new business plots will be built along the busy highway 8. The area has a great deal of roaring power already, as the Raisio motordrome is located close by.

An unsurpassed logistic centre

Raisio has an airport, two ports and railways within a ten-kilometre radius. The new V8 business area is also located centrally when it comes to road traffic: highway 8 and E18 enable quick and efficient travel to e.g. Pori, Tampere, Hämeenlinna and Helsinki. You will also have an easy access to Kustavintie’s busy archipelago connection.

The vision for Raisio city centre offers green meeting places

Raisio will have a unique opportunity to renew the city centre. The E18 road going through the centre will become a tunnel during the 2020s. This will lead to an exceptional situation where new land areas will become available in the heart of the city. The public transport development of the Turku region could also bring a tramline or super bus lines to the centre of Raisio. These changes require zoning, and to support this, the city compiled a city centre vision. In this vision, the centre of Raisio is a green, easily accessible centre of innovation and a meeting place.

This centre vision covers the areas near the tunnel as well as some areas surrounding Varppeenaukio, Tasalanaukio and Soliniuksenkuja. The tunnel will begin at the junction of Raisiontie and E18 road, and it will be about 450 metres long.

The new city centre vision of Raisio utilises the city’s excellent accessibility but also connects the city centre to the surrounding green areas. The diverse green areas, city block parks and green corridors of the new centre structure will create a unique identity for the area.

The key sections of the new Raisio will be the high buildings in the city centre, acting as the gateway to the centre, and the winter garden between them that has a view to the park that will be built above the tunnel. The park will bring the city centre’s structure together and create a large green area in the middle of Raisio. The other areas in the centre will also be coordinated as a series of urban spaces. New kinds of townhouse residential blocks will surround the central park. The building stock in the commercial centre will be renewed and made denser in time.

Implementing this city centre vision is a gradually built project that will take place over many decades. If the E18 road project stays on schedule, the construction in Raisio city centre will begin in 2021. Once the tunnel is completed, the construction of the central park and the winter garden situated above the tunnel could be started. In the next phase, the city centre structure can be made denser, for example by constructing new residential blocks near the park and by developing the service areas. The third stage of the vision will be the construction in the blocks on the western side of the park.
