Rhododendron Park
Raisio’s Rhododendron Park is located in pine-dominated boreal woodland near the centre of town on Kirkkoväärtinkuja.
Created in 1999 it is home to roughly 1,860 rhododendrons, containing 215 varieties from Finland and abroad . They have been bought and planted by both volunteers and Raisio’s horticultural professionals. The park continues to expand and now covers 4.5 hectares in total.
The area contains small ponds and mires and is enhanced with vines, perennials, ferns and vegetation that thrive in the terrain, soils and climate of the area.
The rhododendrons bloom from the end of May to Midsummer, making a feast for the senses. From there you can also walk to Karmelinpuisto, the children’s park in Vaisaari, the outdoor gyms at Vaisaari school or even go swimming at Ulpukka.
The park is free to visit as is parking.
Park rules
- Only walk on the pedestrian pathways and forest paths of stone ash.
- The forest paths are pedestrians only. Cycling, scooters and mopeds are prohibited.
- Do not harm the vegetation in any way. Picking plants is prohibited.
- Do not walk through wetlands or areas with planted or natural vegetation; because this harms the vegetation – keep to the paths.
- Dogs must be kept on a leash. Do not allow dogs to relieve themselves on plants in the area. Please clean up after your dog.
- Smoking is prohibited.
